“To dance is to be out of yourself. Larger, more beautiful, more powerful… This is power, it is glory on earth and it is yours for the taking”
Agnes De Mille
Taalasya, the dance club of Faculty of Social Sciences, BHU started its journey on November 2018. It was an idea for a platform to perform and show up your presence as a faculty. 'Taalasya' has come from the intermingling of two words- Taal and Lasya. Taal in Indian Classical music means rhythm. The term Lasya , in the context of Hindu mythology, describes the dance performed by Goddess Parvati as it expresses happiness, grace and beauty.
The members of the club are Kajal Rajput, Rinku Kumari, Vidushi Mishra, Anushka Chowdhury, Debasmita Sutradhar, Pooja Yadav, Varisha Ahmed, Ankit Milind,Upasana Maitra and others. The above mentioned students were also the pioneers to the formation of this club.
This club serves a collection of members whose passion is dancing above all. The club organises Dance Contest, performs for the faculty and also participates in Inter faculty competitions.
The achievements of the club includes- Aagaaz, an intrafaculty contest; participation in Pravasi Bharatiya Divas; Abhikalpan and Spandan; etc..
The first authentic event of the club itself was overwhelming to the Spectators and the club. It was not a bed of roses, but had many challenges to face. The club learned to conquer them and proceed in the journey. This conditioning surely makes the club to face these circumstances again and still keep moving.
The club being a newer initiative in the Faculty wants to organise workshops, contests/programmes, some interactive sessions with famous dancers/personalities , etc.
